Position Summary Information

Job Summary

The Client Technologies Analyst III is responsible for the following to include: Maintenance of Configuration Management servers and settings, Maintenance of Configuration Management content including software installs, patches, and settings deployed to end user devices. Configuration of Linux appliance. Troubleshooting of PC, Mac, Linux and mobile device issues related to Configuration Management agents and compliance reports. Assist IT Manager with report preparation from all managed IT assets.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years of related experience in hardware, software and network technology administration.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree. Four or more years of administrative experience.

Five (5) years of multiple OS and hardware support.

Five (5) years of Workstation Configuration Management in a medium to large corporate environment.

Required Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations

Class C driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

CompTIA A+

CompTIA Network+

CompTIA Security+

ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management

Required Special Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills

Mobility to go to all College facilities.

Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.

Must be a self-starter.

Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Experience deploying Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, Apple Macintosh OS X, and other supporting applications via a configuration management framework.

General TCP-IP networking knowledge.

General working knowledge of Linux operations systems.

Work schedule may be adjusted so that the CVM Helpdesk has at least (2) staff members present from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Exposure to animals.

Provides on-call support on nights and weekends as needed.

Detailed Job Duties

Duties Performed

Evaluate Patch status of end user and server devices at least weekly and deploy rememdiation via the Content Managment Servers following ITIL and CVM change management and release standards.

Assist IT Manager with report preparation from all managed IT assets.

Duties Performed

Troubleshoot issues with server and/or end users devices including but not limited to: PC’s, Mac’s, Linux, iPad, Android, and Active Sync devices. Document changes in ticketing system. Generate documentation for publication.

Create and update software installs and settings for distribution via the CVM Configuration Management servers. Document changes in ticketing system. Generate documentation for publication.

Participate in Professional Development related to Configuration Managment and/or its implimentation.

Install, update and maintain Configuration Managment servers in accordance with CVM and TAMU policies.
Configure or assist with configuration of all related Linux appliances. Document changes in ticketing system. Generate documentation for publication.

Mentor Junior staff and end users on usage of Configuration Management, Self Help, and other supported product.
Mentor Junior Staff with troubleshooting issues related to supported products.
Assist IT Manager as back line support to Junior staff on all CVM IT issues.

Setup and maintain imaging scripts and infrastructure needed to apply and maintain standard operating system images on all CVM electronic assets. Performance of duties may require operation of a University or other motor vehicle
